For more than 92 years, World Trade Week (WTW), an initiative of the L.A. Area Chamber, has been the most extensive and unique program of its kind in the country. WTW actively promotes the positive aspects of international trade that are vital to a strong local and national economy through a series of educational programs and events, including the annual Kickoff in early May.
The Chamber kicks off the start of each year's celebration by bringing together business executives, leaders of trade organizations and members of the diplomatic corps for the WTW Kickoff Breakfast. The event, which attracts 900 participants, opens with an exhibit featuring award winners, sponsors and country representatives, and continues with a scholarship ceremony, a silent auction, a dynamic keynote address and the presentation of several awards.
World trade is celebrated throughout the month of May with more than 30 events hosted by partnering organizations in Southern California that are jump started by the Chamber's Annual WTW Kickoff Breakfast with approximately 900 guests. WTW supports college and high school scholarships, high school student and career counselor workshops, as well as briefings for civic and business leaders interested in benefiting from the global economy.
