MAPLE Hosts Toronto Summer Reception - Stephen Cheung Guest Speaker

MAPLE Business Council® is returning to Toronto for our next Canadian networking event where we will be hosting an evening Summer Reception on Wednesday, June 19th. This will be an opportunity to reconnect with Toronto-area members, partners and guests as we recognize the opportunities to do business between Canada and Southern California.

We are honored to welcome Stephen Cheung, Executive Vice President of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) and the President of World Trade Center Los Angeles, as our guest speaker. Stephen is a dynamic voice for the opportunities that exist for businesses in Greater Los Angeles and leads investment attraction on behalf of both LAEDC and WTCLA. He also supports international trade and international connections for organizations based in LA County.

Prior to his current role, Stephen was the Secretary General of International Trade and Foreign Affairs for Los Angeles Mayors Eric Garcetti and Antonio Villaraigosa and was responsible for managing policies and programs related to the Port of Los Angeles, Los Angeles World Airports, International Affairs and Global Trade. Stephen currently sits on the Board of Advisors of UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Policy and Sister Cities of Los Angeles, while also serving on LA Metro’s Sustainability Council and Biz-Fed’s International Trade Committee.

Our evening reception will be held in downtown Toronto at the Collaboration Hub of MAPLE member organization, Teknion, a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial office interiors. We wish to thank Teknion for being our host. We are also grateful for the generous support of Air Canada as our travel sponsor.
