A political scientist by training, he previously served as Director of Research in the Prime Minister’s Office and holds a Ph.D. from Carleton University. A senior fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs and CIGI, he has co-authored several national bestsellers, including The Big Shift and Empty Planet. In Breaking Point, he brings data-driven insight into the social and political currents shaping Canada’s future.
John Ibbitson
John Ibbitson is an award-winning journalist and writer-at-large for The Globe and Mail. Over his distinguished career, he has served as the paper’s Ottawa and Washington bureau chief and authored acclaimed books such as Stephen Harper and The Duel: Diefenbaker, Pearson and the Making of Modern Canada. He has co-authored two national bestsellers with Darrell Bricker—The Big Shift and Empty Planet—and now Breaking Point, offering a clear-eyed look at the challenges and choices defining Canada’s next decade.
